How Career Path works?

A career path describes the sequence of roles, skills, and experiences through which an employee can progress — either vertically through increasing seniority, laterally across different functions, or diagonally combining both directions. Organizations that make career paths explicit and visible see higher engagement and lower attrition because employees can see a future within the organization that motivates them to invest rather than explore externally.
