Such is the power of LinkedIn that it has almost single-handedly transformed the world of recruitment.

Almost every professional or aspiring professional needs to be present on LinkedIn now. So if you still haven’t paid much attention to your LinkedIn profile, this is your sign to do it. 

Here are 9 simple and quick ways to improve your LinkedIn profile and get the best results out of it:

1. The basics: A complete LinkedIn profile gets 30% more views. Your profile is complete when you have

  • profile photo
  • a headline,
  • a summary,
  • your educational and professional history

If any of these basic things are missing from your profile, your chances of you getting discovered are significantly minimized, so make sure to keep these updated at all times.

2. Profile Photo: A profile photo is your first impression on social media, so make sure it’s a good one. Put up a high-resolution, professional photo with your face taking up 60% of the frame, so you are the focus of the picture. 5. Keywords: Hiring managers are always looking to recruit through LinkedIn.  Including keywords in different sections really increases your visibility chances, as LinkedIn’s algo would pick up on popular keywords and recommend your profile to recruiters within the same domain.

6. Summary: This is a blank canvas for you to express yourself. You have a space of 2000 characters to list your goals, demonstrate broader expertise, advertise your unique selling points and put your best step forward. Make this section as personalized to yourself as possible. 

7. Skills: Flaunt the variety of skills you have accomplished and the tools that you have gained expertise on along the way. These could be helpful to recruiters in identifying exactly what your job constituted and how your experience is relevant to the positions they’re seeking to fill. 

8. Endorsements: Support the people you work with by endorsing their skills, work ethic and ambitious mindset. You can also request your mentors or previous managers to endorse you here. This is a good way to add social proof for your area of expertise. Remember: The best way to get endorsements is to give them. 

9. Network and Engage: No matter how strong a profile you build on LinkedIn, if you dont actively post unique content, it won't do you much good. So, build your network, post actively and engage with relevant content to stay on top of people’s feeds and minds.
